So I went to the place and gave her a deposit, after which she decides to tell me contradictory info... it is month to month and I dont accept any personal checks, cash only even though my closest bank is in highland and I have to pay ridiculous ATM fees and make multiple transactions over 2-3 days so I dont bust my accounts withdrawal limit on the local out-of-network ATMs. Then, she told me I could write a receipt out. I asked when we were signing a contract, she said she didnt bring one and that we will sign something more official when I move in... I had to handwrite the receipt and we both signed it. This is the same exact scenario I had with Christian, who stole my deposit back in July and I JUST got a court order for it last week. I dont trust this. Also, there were other weird things with the roommates, they seemed to skirt around the landlady while she walked me through... 2 of them came home at separate times and both told her they had to speak to her, that it isnt urgent but they need to discuss some things and to talk after I left. The landlady wouldnt allow me back in the house to talk to the tenants on my own, she said it invades their privacy despite just having come outside. It was just... just weird. Anyway she was offended when I called later to ask questions, and said I was rude to say it felt shady. Lady, you were sensoring the entire visit, want me to pay in cash only, and dont have a contract, and I JUST told you about how I just got through with the Christian situation. She said she will give my deposit back on Tues... god I hope she does, dont really wanna go through this again
