So I woke up this morning to the Doctor making his rounds. He said "good morning" and struck up a conversation. He said "Can I say something?", and I am thinking here we go. This is not going to be good. He says " The longer I am married the more I find what is really important in a marriage. He said it is not the good times together that indicate a strong marriage. It is the difficult times like what Steve and I are going through now. He said he had a young male patient who had just recently been married. His wife was a very attractive lady. This man was going to be a surgeon, but became ill. He now was not only not going to be able to become a surgeon, he was not going to live. The doctor said his wife walked out on him. She said she could not take this, and just left him there. The only thing this lady wanted was an easy life and a house in the suburbs which was now not going to happen. The doctor said he admired my dedication to Steve. He said that Steve and I are an example of what a strong marriage is. He then reached over and shook my hand and said "Thank you". Wow I certainly was not expecting that.
