So Im coming to the conclusion that at the heart of third-wave feminism is: 1) if your behavior doesnt disenfranchise anyone, go ahead, but dont be a dick about it. 2) reciprocally, that it is not your place to cast aspersions on other peoples behavior unless it disenfanchises someone, no matter how strange it may seem. 3) dont talk over people when they are sharing their experiences, especially people in groups who have a history of being talked over. 4) demonstrate empathy rather than defensiveness to as great a degree possible when confronting social issues/personal narratives. 5) Underpinning this, of course, is that all people regardless of ethnicity, gender, or queerdom should have the same basic human rights, treated with dignity, and be offered the same opportunities for success, and that this has not yet happened. It seems to me that all other pinnings are secondary. Thoughts?
