So Im not sleeping as per usual when this crosses my mind. There is the word sibling that refers to people that share a parent. But then there are the words brother and sister which say the same thing but are gender specific. You also have mother, father, aunt, uncle, niece, and nephew... all gender specific relations. And then we come to cousin, which says nothing about gender, only refers to relationship like sibling. The only difference, cousin doesnt have a gender specific counterpart... yes this is the crap that rattles in my skull when I should be enjoying some kind of peace and escape.
