So Im not where I should be for just about everything. Those of you that Ive friended on here for a while know that Ive struggled the last several months to figure out what direction Im taking with my education. I want to be a psychiatrist, but I lack the science requirements that were suddenly sprung on my goal last semester. That and the odd place medicine currently finds itself have persuaded me, slowly, to pursue a masters degree before going into medicine. This solidification of this plan has only happened recently, and with my advisement right around the corner, I decided to bring it up. Which leads me back to the beginning, Im not where I need to or should be for anything. I learned today, that a fair amount of preparation and forethought needs to go into deciding to go to graduate school. Not just for a PhD, but even for an MS. Because of this, I dont have the GRE test done, nor do I have recommendations, nor GPA, nor idea of where to go, nothing. And the deadline for most of these colleges for next fall has passed or will pass in the next week or so. I am behind, miserably so, and I have little idea of how to proceed with this knowledge. So Im sitting here. Colleges pulled up. And I have no idea what to do. Ive always managed to get by, but this is the one time I feel really pinched when it comes to my education as a whole. If I have to wait a year to apply for masters program, Ill have to start paying on my loans. If I have to start paying on my loans, I wont be able to take that time and use it to build my resume, contacts, network, etc... Instead Ill be working two or three jobs and trying to make enough to pay bills and manage to make payments on my loans which could lead to me to a point I wont be able to go into a masters program at all. So yeah, here I am. Trying to figure out what Im going to do, and I basically have a giant clock falling at terminal velocity toward my dreams and goals.
