So... Im posting this... knowing full well that it will blow up. I did middle eastern dance as a teen. My whole family has. Some of them and other friends of mine may feel hurt by this post. I also feel like it is worthy of discussion so Im going to repost it in order to engage in this discussion. I feel like the author of this article is entitled to her feelings about how others engage with her culture. Since this is a sensitive topic I would challenge any who wish to engage to try to understand each others perspective before responding and try to extend grace to people who may not understand the world as you do. I would like to challenge everyone to keep an open mind and allow others to speak.
