So... Im pretty much up on the cartoons theyve been selling to our little boys. The comedy cartoons are heaped full of low-brow gross-out humor, which is low-hanging fruit. The action cartoons are actually rather sophisticated. Mostly Im more than okay with them. Even a lot of the morals are not only more subtly delivered than cartoons did when I was a kid, the stories themselves are far more intelligent. Watch an episode of Justice League and then try watching an old episode of Super Friends. Just remembering it makes me want to tear my eyes out. Muy estupido. However, other than mainstream cartoon movies like Frozen and the like, I really dont know what kinds of things theyre trying to teach our girls. I mean the ones aimed at girls specifically, since I know a lot of girls like boy cartoons as well. I watched the Tinkerbell movie last night. It was quite cute. The message left me scratching my head. I THINK its about feeling comfortable with ones own talents and understanding that every talent is worthwhile in its own right., though it might have also been suggesting one grow comfortable with the status quo. Not sure yet. Im watching the second one next, to see what the message is this time. The world is rather interesting, to be honest. Im quite curious about it. Yes. Here I am, a grown man, talking about watching Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue. You all DO realize Im perfectly all right being odd, yeah?
