So, Im reading a lot of posts, and one question Im not seeing answered that I dealt with in my first five gallon mead-making experiment was this.....when I racked, in order to avoid ending up with a lot of sediment following the liquids into the new carboy, I ended up having to leave a considerable amount (probably 1/2-1 inch in the bottom of the one gallon and three gallon carboys) of liquid in the carboy. While I can simply add water after the first rack, what about after that? Is there a trick to this that Im overlooking?
