So. Im scheduled for lasik surgery next month but starting to - TopicsExpress

So. Im scheduled for lasik surgery next month but starting to have some doubts. EVERY person Ive spoken to who had it done some time ago is now wearing glasses again. I asked the surgeon about that, telling him that my sisters and a few others Id spoken to had to start wearing glasses again after 5 years (one exception: someone had to revert to glasses after 10 years) and the doctor expressed surprise, saying there is no reason that he could think of for that except to say that if a person starts to develop cataracts that would change their vision. His explanation leaves me a little uneasy. I dont feel comfortable shelling out that kind of money for five years and then having to wear glasses again (its also my understanding that once you have the surgery, contacts are no longer an option). I asked the doc about this twice now and he has yet to really set my mind at ease -- not with the overwhelming evidence of other peoples experiences. Id appreciate some input -- especially if anyone can tell me they had the procedure done more than 10 ago and are STILL glasses-free. NOTE: I am NOT referring to whether Ill need reading glasses. I already know lasik wont address that. Im talking about not being able to see well enough after awhile and needing to wearing glasses all the time again. GO!
