So Im sitting at the window in my little place in the middle of nowhere, drinking a coffee and eating a bagel with some lox and cream cheese. And because it is Saturday there are no ordinary tasks for me to do, Im resting. I open the Bible to the very beginning and begin to read. I talk about work ethic often, here on Facebook, so I wanted to share something that I either just noticed or had, like so many things, learned and forgotten. After the first day of creation God looks at creation and says that it is good, but the Lord does not say this at the end of the second day. You see the work of the second day stretches into the third and unfinished work should not be called good (Rashi). Once the work of both the second and third day are completed, the Lord returns to the usual formula proclaiming the work that has been done is good. Isnt it interesting that the concept of work ethic was given to the world, prior to the creation of man...
