So Ive been fairly quiet about the horrifying event that happened on my street Tuesday night. I witnessed a normally behaved dog, for an unknown reason getting out of its fenced yard. I have a good idea why it got and I feel it was provoked by an irresponsible pet owner that was allowing her dog while on a leash to antagonize the neighborhood dogs, including mine while I was in my yard with him bbqing. I personally witnessed this, aggressive dog barking at its door and running around in its small front yard, I was busy cooking and was preparing to get said dog and put it in my yard when I was done cooking. But police showed up and I thought dog would be safe, went in house and less than two minutes later heard the shot. Ran outside, dog was now across street trying to get away, dog saw me and ran to me with terrified look on her face with a bullet hole above her left eye with no exit wound. I was going to grab her I was that close to her, until I looked up and saw policeman running after dog with his weapon drawn, I backed off. Dog ran around me and straight back to its house, where minutes later the owners pulled in because they were called about their loose dog. Officer never once said one word to me while he was running towards and past me. Owners accept responsibility that dog was loose. But for hecks sake people quit crucifying them. Another neighbors dog got out days later and WAS running around the neighborhood!!! I am so traumatized, I cant believe it. The officer told me that this was spd policy. Bs!!! Ive personally seen spd handle worse dog calls than this without injuring the dog.
