So Ive been one of those guys that have held onto their Timmy - TopicsExpress

So Ive been one of those guys that have held onto their Timmy pedal, and for the most part has always had a permanent spot on the board, not sure what changed about my ears lately(LOL) but Ive started to find, and pretty much the same settings Ive kept it at, that its either a bit bassy or middy/muddy/compressed? Im playing through a DRRI(volume 2 bass 6-7 treble 3-4 with a ceramic weber blue dog) which again has been pretty much kept set the same(although I did change power tubes a few months back). I actually find that Im turning the treble up for my strat(MIJ, basswood/rosewood neck, Suhr ML/Dimarzio HS-2) and turning it down for the Les Paul(MIJ Burny copy, traditional construction, SD Jazz/Tokai 57 pups), what is going on!?!?! I realize that Ive been trying to develop better neck pickup tone lately to diversify but even when I dial the tones in for the bridge even the bridge pickup is a bit muddy. I have a feeling theres a bit about EQ I dont understand or my brain cant form thoughts about(e.g. thinking upper mids=treble) but when I A/B the Timmy vs a Sparkle Drive(which is supposed to be TS-based and have a mid hump which should give a muddier/more compressed sound?) I almost always go with the Sparkle Drive for that first stage slight breakup sound. Could it be the amp volume? I notice Im more pleased with it once it get more to ear-tickling or stage volumes, once the amp goes to around 3 or so the Timmy for the most part sounds fine. Ive never really dove into tone circuits so i dont know if my ears are maybe mistaking the pedal trying to fix an amp thats on the softer side as opposed to the pedal just shaping what the amp is giving me in volume, know what I mean? Help me out, cant quite put the thoughts into words so sorry if its reads like a mess. Sorry I reposted so i could add the video
