So, Ive finally found something that works VERY WELL in curbing our MinPins barking! Weve tried all manner of techniques, including a private dog trainer, high pitch (silent) tone gizmo, etc. I finally invested in a citronella spray collar, and Im dumbfounded. The results were almost instantaneous! Our home has been much more quiet the last couple of weeks! Wow. I purchased two more, and Im going to rent them out for anyone who would like to try one before buying. (This was something I wish had been an option with some of the other contraptions we used. you have no idea how much money we spent trying to get Bitsy to quit barking so much.) The collar is adjustable, I have two sizes of sprayers--one for small to large dogs, and one for toy dogs. The sprayer has to be refilled now and then, depending on how frequently the dog barks. (Ive not had to refill Bitsys at all...she barks once or twice, then stops. I can probably count on both hands how many times shes barked in the last two weeks.) What I like is that the dog still barks a warning, but then stops, because the more the dog barks, the more citronella is sprayed, making the scent stronger (which dogs dont care for). The odor is annoying to the dog, but wont cause injury. I am renting citronella bark control collars for $25 a month (filled with citronella), with a $100 damage deposit, or register with a credit card and your photo ID (drivers license) instead. I wont charge your card unless you bring the collar back damaged or if you dont bring it back at all. Bring the collar back in good condition and you get your damage deposit back. A citronella refill is $5. You may find that just using the collar for a month, your dog will have learned to stop barking and you may not have to purchase one at all. :)
