So Ive watched the first 3 episodes of G-Reco through a couple times now. Im working on some screencaps, but for now, impressions (here there be minor spoilers). Ask any questions you like, and Im sure Gwyn Campbell can fill in any gaps that my weaker language abilities couldnt get. - overall, really positive impression. The animation is great, the voice acting is great, he music is great, the attention to detail is great. Theres this...energy that it has that makes it really fun to watch, even with a low-level understanding of Japanese. -It has a very atypical start for a Gundam show, mostly focused around the capture of the G-Self and various attempts to snatch it back (first by the space pirates, then by Amerian forces). Bellri hasnt actually taken it out alone yet - Aidas always been in the cockpit with him. Theres plenty of action to go around, too, so thats fun. - Theres a heavy character focus, and theyre all really distinct, which is a thing that I absolutely eat up so I love that aspect so far. Bellri is fun in a way I feel we havent seen in a while (although Im quite a fan of Luin Lee already - seems like a swell dude), and we have plenty of mysterious figures in the Capital Forces. Klim Nick is exactly as obnoxious as his character design implies, though his Montero is neat. The two main cheerleaders - Noredo and Manny, pink and black hair - are fantastic as well, and are a great argument for Tomino writing strong women. -on that note, I was surprised by Aida. The Interview implied heavily that she would be a strong character, but she kinda comes across weak compared to Noredo and Manny. I suppose shell develop as the show goes on, because Tomino seemed to agree with the sentiment that she was a strong female lead.
