So I’m at work listening to two guys talk about conspiracy theories. It’s always, “They said this, I heard that.” If you listen to the charismatic co-worker, why don’t you believe the homeless guy with “the end is near” sign? No-one does the research for themselves. No-one contemplates the physics of the event, considers the phycology of those involved, ponders the logistics of the situation… No, they just want to be told what to believe by someone other than the government. So here’s my theory: Conspiracy theories create malleable minds, thus making it easier for industry and politicians (who are charismatic) to get people to jump on a bandwagon.
