So... Just curious on everyones take on this tremendously undying trend The Ice Bucket Challenge. I see now that movie stars, race car drivers, professional football players, country music stars, hell even Oprah Winfrey and Mark Zuckerberg joining in and having ice water dumped over their heads... Instead of donating. Now forgive me if I am wrong or misunderstanding the point of this whole thing... But... Isnt this to raise money for the cause of choice? And wasnt taking the ice bucket supposed to be the way to get out of the monetary donation? Initially dumping the ice water was for the people who didnt donate, but still wanted to participate and tag friends to Challenge them to donate OR take a bucket of ice water for not donating. What I see instead, is people from all walks of life dumping water on their heads and challenging friends to do the same. What I dont see or hear is the monetary donation being made to these charities. The stars and the rich are taking the ice bucket instead of donating? I can understand the average Joe not having the funds to donate and dumping water over their head or jumping under a waterfall etc, to bring attention to a worthy cause and so others may be encouraged to donate actual funds... cool, I get that. But... What is the purpose of the Ice water over the head if you are donating? Why punish yourself for a good deed? I think the internet got this thing confused, that is... Unless all of these rich folks really are dodging the donation and taking the ice bucket for being an actual sap and not donating. Yet, doesnt that kind of defeat the whole purpose? Just curious. Feel free to correct me if i have misunderstood.
