So, Libby Armentrout challenged me to list 3 things a day (for 7 days) for which I am grateful. I stink at fb and dont get on here often, so I accept with the caveat that I can list them all at once! So, here it goes. :) 1. My wife, PK 2. Her health 3. My health 4. Our faith 5. Our dog, Riley 6. Our family members (living and not) 7. Our amazing network of friends & neighbors (who are like family to us) 8. Laughter (which PK & Riley provide daily) 9. Creativity (which I hope I never lose and I hope I begin to use more) 10. Adventure (because there is always more to see and do) 11. Trees (they are much stronger and more resilient than we) 12. All animals & insects (from the goldfinches that perch on my coneflowers to the snakes that slide through our flowerbeds…they all play their part and I am so grateful for them) 13. Water (especially the wonderful Great Lakes!) 14. Rocks (which I have collected for as long as I can remember – in fact, I am typing this across from a large basket filled with rocks gathered along the shore in Petoskey, Michigan. They inspire me and remind me of how small we all are in this universe.) 15. Dirt (I love getting my hands in it and we wouldn’t exist without it) 16. ART (This is different from “creativity,” and deserves its own listing. Life would be so boring and void of color and engagement if there were no art. I don’t care what medium, how big or small, how pretty or ugly, how offensive or enchanting…give me ART!) 17. Food (Yep, I said it…..food. I love it. I am unabashedly in love with food….the textures, tastes, and the stories and people that make the food of our lives. Some of my fondest memories in life involve food, whether it was my mom’s or a greasy spoon diner.) 18. Recycling (Because it’s available to us, thankfully, and because we will eventually bury ourselves with our own disposability conciousness if we just keep tossing our sh*t in landfills.) 19. My senses (I enjoy the feel of an old wool blanket, the smell of my dog’ears, the sight of autumn’s changes colors, the taste of a peanut butter malt and the sound of people I love having a good time.) 20. Good examples (Because we all need reminders that things can be done well and sensitively.) 21. Forgiveness (I’m pretty sure this needs no explanation.)
