So November is Epilepsy Awareness month but for us living with it, it is not just about the pretty purple ribbons or hearts, its more of thinking about and appreciating any and all of the other people or family that are effected by this on a daily basis! Wether its your spouse or significant other that wakes us up in the middle of a nocturnal seizure before it can generalize and cause sudep! Sudden unexplained Death from Epilepsy! Or a simple ride to the store or doctors office when you lose your license! A simple reminder to take your meds to a back rub after you feel like you were ran over by a truck! And the hours they have sat by our side in the hospital and slept in a chair! And been there through all the tests and surgeries! With people like this in our lives doing these things that seem like no big deal to them, let me be the first to say, I Am AWARE of everything you do and there is no thanks you want back, just know, we couldnt do it without you ! all of you! So Epilepsy Awareness month huh? I say its awareness of the people that dont ask or expect anything in return for making our lives easier! Its hard for us all to lose any or all of our independence and it takes a lot to push your pride aside and except all the help! But just remember that we are the Epilepsy warriors an we dont quit! Dont Quit Dont Quit no matter what! When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road youre trudging seems all uphill, When funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but dont you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about, When he might have won if hed stuck it out. Dont give up, though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up When he might have captured the victors cup, And he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are - It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when youre hardest hit - Its when things seem worst that you mustnt quit.
