So, On Thursday, The 17th of July, I decided to stop to help a lady push her car out of the road. I pulled into a nearby parking lot, and was jogging from my car to the street. I misjudged the slope of grass between the Parking Lot and the sidewalk. I fell forward. I tried to roll, and failed to get all the way over, impacting on my right shoulder. The Humerus and Scapula translater down and back, but the clavicle could not follow, so the ligaments that bind that bone to the scapula acromium(sp?) process were stretched. I rolled to my feet and noticed that my shoulder hurt and the distal end of my clavicle was protruding from my shoulder slightly (1/2 an inch). I went ahead and pushed the car (there were a couple other gents who also helped) with my left hand. After that I drove myself to the ED and Shands, where it took them about 6 hours to evaluate me (AC separation) and give me some advice and send me home. Fast forward to today. I have some occasional pain in the shoulder. I consulted with a physician 1 week after the injury and he felt that the need for surgery was unclear. We are waiting for 8 weeks to pass to see if I still have pain. I have resumed weightlifting as pain permits (there are still several planes of movement that hurt). We shall see :)
