So Penny had her blood tests and the results arent good~~she definitely has some form of doggy Hemophilia ~~ the vet said we could do further testing if we would like to narrow it down but that there is really nothing that can be done about it if we did know what kind~~he said if we were breeders it would be important to know or if we even knew who her breeder was it might be nice to warn them but since we arent and dont he cant see spending the money but will if we like~~then he said ask your friends they know more about bassets than I do (smart Vet) so friends Dawn Smith Sandi Wittenberg Cheri Feldhausen and anyone else with any insight does it matter which one she has..his suggestion is for me to have flagyl for stomach upset on hand to use at first sign (since all her problems so far have been in the gi tract) to have vitamin k to take at the first sign of bleeding..to have clotting gauge and powders for a skin bleed and to watch her like a hawk and no elective surgerys and to make sure all vets know of her clotting factor in case she needs plasma~~does this sound reasonable or is he nuts??
