So Ponder This: Some people like The Queen, thats no surprise to the majority of us; shes an extremely spritely gal for a woman who is older than Winnie-The-Pooh. However, there has been much debate given prevailing economic conditions about the fundamental financial viability of having a huge, publicly funded estate of diamond-encrusted posh people with golden carriages and silly hats. There is an argument to be made that The Royals pay for themselves in the sheer volume of union jack pacamacs and tawdry ceramic corgis, but were all aware that the profits are largely going to the slimy cockneys who own those gaudy market stalls. However, I have a solution. What if all Royal merchandise was franchised by the Royals themselves? Our Ol ElWin2 would hold the merchandising rights to all plastic crowns and inflatable Big Bens she wanted and all the stall holders would be licensed by her. If it works and she pays for herself, then weve just saved the country the tax expenditure of the entire Royal family. If not, then the people who said that the Royals brought in more money than they cost were evidently wrong. Thoughts?
