So...Thankyou ( I think) to Ellie-Khaleesi Gilbert for nominating me to name my 10 fave books...an impossible task as anyone who knows me will testify so I shall have to be allowed to group a few together by author and have decided that the ones I chose are for their significance in my life rather than literary genius! 1. Crosstitch..( outlander) By Diana Gabaldon..quite simply perfect and the book I have loved for many years. It may have given rise to what my friends and daughters believe to be my odd quirk for a liking for tall left handed men...hmmmm 2. Lady of Hay By Barabara Erskine. If you havent read this you must!, along with all the others ...oh midnight is a lonely place has special meaning too.... so many to love 3.Alice in wonderland. ( Lewis Carroll).. I must quote something from this so often..especially the mad hatter...childhood and magic...wonderful! 4.The Three at St Christophers By D.V.Obrien. I doubt this book has been read by anyone else under 80 lol . It was given to me in 1972 by a wonderful old lady whose book it was. Set in a boarding school it made me long for midnight feasts and taught me how to speak correctly ! It still stands on my shelf. 5.Lord of the Rings trilogy.... Oh how I love the Ents! 6. Great Expectations ( Charles Dickens) Only MIss Haversham can make a wedding dress cool! But then I might have to put Jayne Eyre ( Charlotte Bronte) here too and dance about like kate bush in floaty dresses .... a few of you know what I mean! 7.Of Mice and Men.. ( John Steinbeck).Tell me about the rabbits George... enough said! 8.The Faraway Tree ( Enid Blyton) and of course all her other books which made up my childhood and allowed me to become lost in the pages of a world where i was happy . 9.The Tempest ( William Shakespeare) - and most of the others-Sorry you are relegated to 9th Will...I love you so! 10.Only one spot left and I cant do it...Those books were my friends! How can I leave any out? So this last space I dedicate to all those I have devoured, laughing, crying ( all one Easter over a certain Cecelia Aherne book) sighing and climbing inside ,only to be lost to the world for a few hours over and over again.... I now nominate Dawn Brooks and Christine Simmonds....
