So . . . The BBC has announced that it will begin filming a new show in the fall to compete with HBOs wildly popular GAME OF THRONES. I will admit that Im not a big fan of the GoT television series because its too graphic for me, but I think its awesome that a show based on a series of fantasy novels is being taken so seriously as drama, and its garnering real attention. Id love to see the Noble Dead Saga done as a high budget TV show :) So, BBC apparently would like to emulate the success of GoT, but they are basing their new show on Bernard Cornwells novel THE LAST KINGDOM. I was curious about the story, so I bought a copy of the book, and Im almost finished. I do like it, but this not a fantasy novel. Its set in England beginning in 866, and its story of the Saxons fighting the Danes (Vikings), with a lot of battles, rape, and pillage. I would compare it more to the History Channels show VIKINGS than I would with GAME OF THRONES. Heres the write-up. Thoughts? Barb
