So Thomas decided that after I had been sorting and packing for a few hours that he would surprise me and go to Walgreens to get me a soda...BY HIMSELF!!! Its just across the street but the sidewalks have issues and he has almost tipped twice on previous walks so I was a bit nervous. He convinced me he would take the long route and go around the block, but I was still nervous. We rigged his wallet to his chair to be easily accessible and off he went! Around the block, through the intersection, got help getting his few items off the shelves and paying and then home! Meanwhile I sat on the couch sobbing and full of fear as emotions from last summer overpowered my heart and I felt helpless and vulnerable and afraid...The Lord gently reminded me to trust him and that he was with Thomas each step of his recovery. What a huge step in independence!!! He was TOTALLY confident and ready to go out on his own and Im sure Ill get to that point as well the more he comes home safe 😊
