So. Today I am in Tulsa for a day-long conference for parents of disabled children. The premise is to educate us about that government benefits are available to us. If you know me well, you know how incredibly difficult it is going to be for me to sit through this with a positive attitude. The reason I am here is to see how to apply for waiting lists for Marshall once he turns 18 and his eligibility for services no longer depends on out family income. I always avoid things like this because what it boils down to for me personally is sitting in a room watching all the people who line up for handouts that my tax dollars pay for that MY disabled children do not qualify for because my husbands income is too high. Im a far, far Right Republican and I hate government handouts with a deep burning passion and I am incredibly resentful that I must pay for things for other peoples children that I cannot afford for my own. These services are not affordable for those of us who would need to pay for them out of pocket. I know this is a personal failing of mine and I try to overcome it, but havent yet. I am going to try to smile and nod and not say anything today and not give people dirty looks. Sometimes that is all you can ask for...
