Her argument is that words have different meanings everywhere. My argument is that while not perceived derogatory by Saint Lucian Indians, the word coolie has a standard meaning (water carrier). No matter where you go the word coolie is defined as water carrier. If youve learnt of its derogatory meaning, why continue to embrace it under the guise of it being your culture?
