So a few days ago Tony Nguyen had a chat with me about my half marathon times.... He said to get what you want (100 mile finish at jackpot) you can NEVER go 4 hours for a half marathon, NEVER go over 3:30 and you really need to be under 3 hours for ALL your road half marathons. Well I went into todays half marathon with the sole goal of getting a good run in and let the chips fall where they may. I paced at marathon pace nice and easy and just ran.... I got lost.... just kept running.... TO A PR 2:55.56 is what the RD told me when I crossed the finish line. I did get a little tired the last 3 miles as the rollers started to get to me and I could smell my second ever sub 3. I did this all by myself literally.. several times I was the only runner on the American River parkway in the race. Thanks to all at Elemental Running for another great race, Cathy Mason your aide station was the oasis in the desert which also told me I found the course again. I forgot the nice lady who gave me a ride back to my car, thanks. Well Tony I heeded what you said.
