So a group of protesters decided to band together to protest - TopicsExpress

So a group of protesters decided to band together to protest verdict for Officer Wilson in the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson. They came together to bring attention to the supposed injustice that has been dealt, not only to the family of Brown but in a greater sense the hole of the black community in what is being persistently labeled as another example of a backdoor deal in a racist culture. And how do these protesters demonstrate their grievances? By blocking I-5 freeway traffic during rush hour, at the onset of the holiday season, creating extreme danger both to themselves and to commuters, creating a fire hazard in and of itself and obstructing the movement of emergency response vehicles if needed. My heart sank when I found out that these protesters consisted mostly of UCSD students. Having recently graduated from UCSD myself I cannot begin to express the degree of embarrassment I feel about this reckless, nihilistic display of nonthinking, manic sophistry. I want to make a suggestion to those students and anyone else who genuinely believe that the verdict regarding this case was unjust. Seeing as how twelve jurors poured over all the evidence for three months, knowing far more about the facts than anyone else, my recommendation is for you to do the same. Here it is, nytimes/interactive/2014/11/25/us/evidence-released-in-michael-brown-case.html?_r=0 all of the evidence open to the public. Thousands of pages of eye-witness reports, forensic photographs, police dispatch recordings, autopsy reports, including gun powder residue, blood toxicology and many, many others just waiting for an independent review. If you believe there has been some shady tampering of justice behind the curtains I invite you to pour through this evidence over the next three months, use that gray matter between your ears to carefully assess all the variables and show us all where the kink in the armor is. Prove that this verdict was unjust. Because until you do, all of your screeching and caterwauling about the lack of justice in this case doesnt mean a goddamn thing, and the obstruction of traffic, destruction of private property and all trauma you are creating is nothing more than violent bigotry on your part! For you UCSD students who are joining the bandwagon of hair-trigger sensitivity run amok, let me remind you where you are and what you represent. You are students of higher-education in one of the most respected Universities in the world. You are the future leaders of the world; writers, journalists, psychologists, social-workers, business owners, lawyers, scientists, engineers, community organizers, statesmen, the people society imagines possess the objectivity to rise above such pre-established prejudice. SHAME ON YOU! Your divisive, race-bating bullshit does nothing to help social and economic disparity in this country! And unless and until you grasp that concept you will not see any improvement. 10news/news/ferguson-protesters-block-i-5-in-la-jolla
