So, a police involved shooting with the officer fatally wounding someone. The officer is alright form what Ive heard which is the least reported thing on the news article. Anyways, a protester was interviewed, Oralando Brown, 36 he said: I understand police officers have a job and have an obligation to go home to their families at the end of the night, he said. But do you have to treat every situation with lethal force? ... Its not a racial issue, or black or white. Its wrong or right. Its a good point, a very good point, but hes saying this in these contexts: The shooting happened because one of the two people the police officer approached pointed a handgun at the police officer. No reports said he shot at the police officer. It doesnt matter if Im a police officer, if Im off duty, or if I choose a different career and no longer have my badge, if someone points a gun at someone I am defending myself as I see fit. How does it make sense to not use lethal force at someone who is threatening lethal force at you? The citizens of the united states should establish this: If you want police officers to only use lethal force at someone who is actively using lethal force against you, then so be it. Contact your representatives, senators, governors an change your own self defense criteria. Oh and while youre wanting to change when a police officer can use lethal force against someone, remember their may be changes to the castle doctrine as well. Just stop and think about this: You walk into quick trip to grab some coffee before you go to work, you walk in and see someone pointing a gun at the cashier yelling. That person turns to you and points his gun at you and starts yelling. What do you do? Do you run? Do you scream? Do you cry? Do you fight? what do you do? How about this: Do you wish you had a firearm so you can defend yourself? If you had a firearm when would YOU shoot? When? Right when he points the gun at you? When he starts putting bullet holes into your body and your life starts to escape your eyes? Think about this before you decide to criticize others.
