So... a rather bizarre thing happened to me on the weekend... Marlinette Newman and I were at Babylonstoren. It was an incredibly hot day and I was reclining on the grass under the shade of a tree. While lying on the grass, a small rooster approached me. As he moved closer towards my face I became aware that he was focused on the reflection in my sunglasses and I managed to sit up quickly as he lunged towards my eye with his beak. As I tried to shoo him away with my forearm he lunged again - this time using his feet and legs and he gaffed me quite deeply on the forearm with the sharp spur on his leg. Now, sure - I can see the funny side of the story but what wasnt funny was the inconvenience and expense of having to go for a tetanus shot on a Saturday afternoon. Keep this story in mind if you have small children - as a rooster could easily jump up to face height and gaff an eye. Despite all of this, I liked the Babylonstoren facebook page. What an awesome place!
