So a very long appointment but a very educating appointment. Dr. made lots of changes to Alivia basal rates starting by breaking it into increments to try to get those night high down. The late afternoon basil was increased too. He lowered her insulin sensitivity rate from 400 to 200 this will allow me to give correction when she is high. We meet with diabetic educator Shannon she was fabulous she showed me things about the pump that I didnt even know about ways to use it when Alivia is doing exercise of any type or when we eat a high carb high fat food so that she doesnt spike so bad. Meet with nutritionist who told me Im doing a fantastic job and that she loves hearing how I calculate measure and weigh her carbs. Super impressed ( go me) said we eat such a nutritional well-balanced diet that she did not need to make any changes to what Alivia eat or how much she eats. Walked away after 4 hours feeling like I have done a fabulous job and should be proud. Felt like we understand more about this disease and what it means for Alivia. How managing it fabulously now will make a huge impact on years down the road. How teaching her to own it and understand it will set her up for those teenage years. This disease will always keep us on our toes and will like to send us on roller coaster rides just because it can, but I love the new medical team we have and have peace knowing that we are working as a TEAM and that I really am in charge and will need to be her advocate. They in courage this me in charge which is scary in one since but makes total sense to me. Thank you Katie Ferguson-Wittmer for sharing andrew dr with us H
