So after an incident on Monday where I was commuting home I felt a little bang as if Id driven over something small I looked in my rear view mirror and saw something bouncing along the road thinking I was quite lucky to have avoided any damage!!!!! I got home parked in the garage there was a bit of extra noise from the engine and a low coolent message on the check computer I popped the bonnet and looked down at a scene of broken parts Id lost 2 blades from my viscous fan taking with it the connection to the cooling overflow tank breaking the top of the radiator shroud leaking coolent from the separated overflow pipe! The following day I had work so fetched the replacement parts after a 10 hr shift! I removed various parts to allow access to the viscous fan nut I bought a 32 mm spanner and after a long search I couldnt find the tool to lock the waterpump to use whilst removing the fan so I ended up using a flathead screwdriver! I drained the coolant using the plug on the bottom rhs of the radiator then noticed the condition of both belts screwed! So went and bought new belts, coolant, oil and filter, distilled water and paraffin I then watched a youtube video of changing the Serpentine and the A/C belts and in 5 minutes had replaced both! Got home fitted new expansion tank, radiator shroud and connected up all hoses and tightend plug on radiator filled coolant system with distilled wated bled system waited till temp gauge reached normal temp poured half a litre of paraffin into the oil filler to flush the system then emptied the coolant system again. Then filled with fresh coolant and bled the system then fitted the new fan. I moved the car onto ramp and drained oil and replaced filter. That was a bloody busy day Soo good to have it done though :-D
