So after four days in a row today I think they got it right. When the time comes in peoples lives and their kids grow up graduate and finally head out on their own, your thoughts are riddled with worry sadness. One thing you never want is when you drop them off to college and have to leave them alone by themselves with no roommate or friends to be there for each other. I am more than proud of my son Nick Bertoni who has over the weekend been mature and brave enough to hang in there after his roommate was a no show Friday and stick through it regardless of the many emotions any of us would have had. He spent Friday and Saturday alone while all of the other freshman where hanging with their roommates attending all of the special orientation events and icebreakers. Sunday after moving into a place for him to have a roommate, the roommate was all that was left over it wasnt a good situation. But nick showed that again, even though this kid was someone that you would describe as unconnected from society and wouldnt give nick the time of day, that he was gonna try and make it work. That takes a special person with a large heart. Ultimately the university did arrange another option with three good roommates that did need one more to fill the four bedroom suite. Now he is finally, after moving him three times, in a much better situation. I want to wish him the best of luck and you know buddy Im always here for you. I love you with all my heart and miss you. I know you will be someone special to many people as you have been all of your life to me.
