So after talking to the owner of the car wash from earlier in the day, I learned that I could drive just a short distance from his house to Buxton. Buxton is home to possibly the second greatest archaeological find in the history of mankind. The Taung Child (Taung is the town you turn from to reach Buxton) is a skull that archaeologists found in 1924. The skull was that of a 3 or 4 year old being, that walked completely upright, with both Ape and Human traits. The skull was dated to be 2.5 million years old. The skull was also featured as a hologram on the cover of National Geographic magazine circa 1985. Such a cool place... driving through a very flat desert, and then all of a sudden, there are tall rock formations, water sources, and deep pools that the guys at the site describe as having no bottom. Absolutely beautiful. #LovesMeSomeHistory #LetsSeeHowFarWeveCome #LookUpNowAndThen
