So.....amongst a series of posts regarding some goings on during Lion King, posted by Jamie Castrisos, James Ryan writes I can imagine worse things......like actually playing for Lion King to which I responded, but all the comments had to be deleted.....but heres my response anyway..... Yeah, James Ryan....Lion King..it was terrible getting a regular paycheck that allowed me to pay my bills and feed my family for playing some largely excellent music to 1800 appreciative people each show, with an orchestra full of great musicians, when I could have been playing derivative, irrelevant jazz fusion to 15 people somewhere (ie the same 15 people who go to all those gigs....usually easily impressed jazz students....dont leave any space or some music might fall through). All for $30, a half price meal and a few free beers. Just so you can claim suffering artist status. Yawn.....
