So apparently the members of the subcommittee on Horticulture, Research, Biotechnology, and Foreign Agriculture decided to have a session discussing the labeling of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). Michael McAuliff over at The Huffington Post wrote a very nice summary of the meeting available here. Essentially, the subcommittee in their infinite wisdom backed by four “experts” concluded that the American people are simply too ignorant to know what is in our food. Those “experts” include: a dairy farmer that feeds her cows GMO feed, a director under the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (a notoriously pro GMO foundation), and a professor that works for a university that has received over 26 million dollars from Chobani (GMO Dairy) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
