So as I reflect on my 2nd veterans day as a civilian Ive come to realize that the thank yous and hand shakes while appreciated mean so much more coming from those I served with than from random people I meet throughout life. Its one thing to thank someone for doing something you didnt or couldnt, but its another far greater feeling to thank someone that you made it through the trials and tribulations with, who stood beside you in battle, or even just watched over you as you slept knowing that you would be watching over them as they did. My shipmates are more than just that. They are people that I trusted with me life and that trusted me with theirs. They have held me up when I was down and together we have overcome the bad and celebrated the good. I thank each and every one of my Ross family members for being my family for 5 years, and for carrying on the watch after mine was done. I am so thankful that I got to spend my 5 years with such a phenomenal crew. No matter what happens in our lives we will always be shipmates. Happy veterans day USS ROSS sailors! You continue to make me proud.
