So as usual, Im listening to the Sports Junkies radio show on 106.7 on my morning commute, and theyre interviewing Jamal Lewis, former RB for the Baltimore Ravens. He was talking about the Super Bowl and his career, etc, and he was talking about how he recently got his second Super Bowl ring for the Ravens SB championship last year. Like me, the Junks were surprised because Lewis retired 4 years ago. So how did he get another SB ring when he hasnt played in the NFL for several years? It turns out that the Ravens owner, Steve Biscotti, also gives rings to all former Ravens players who are in their Ring of Honor, which is sort of the Ravens franchises Hall of Fame. How cool is that! The ring is estimated at $40,000-$50,000. Meantime, my favorite team, the Redskins, have an owner that used to charge fans just to attend training camp and banned fans from bringing signs into the stadium that criticized him. Its bad enough that my team sucks every year, but it really sucks having the second worst owner in the NFL. Maybe if Dan Snyder showed some class and hired a doctor to give him a heart implant we might revitalize what was one one of the best franchises in all of sports. How depressing is it that our beloved Redskins havent even been to a Super Bowl since 1991? Thats an entire generation that has never seen a championship caliber football team in DC! Thanks to Snyder, he single handedly has destroyed a wonderful tradition of fathers and sons & daughters huddling together every Sunday to enjoy the awesome game of football.
