So as you may have seen this week I am running in an election, to be a UEA delegate at NUS conference. You also may know I am openly gay and the LGBT+ officer at UEA. As a result of this, according to the person ripping down my posters yesterday, I am apparantly running to be a delegate to make the case that being gay is normal. I can positively say that if i was a straight man, not an officer and in this election, I would still advocate that being gay is ok. Being part of the LGBT+ movement is never ever something to apologise for and my identity is mine, agree with it or not I will own it and never apologise for being me. So for those taking my posters down because im gay, take them down as much as you like, I will still be gay, I will still be proud and it will always be normal.
