So.....been a long time since Ive updated again. Hmm...whats been happening in my little world? Oh yeah, yet another old school tackle shop closed its doors for the last time. Pauls Bait and Tackle in San Pedro is now done and gone...sigh....It joins an ever growing list that includes Arts in Gardena, Fishermans Hardware in LBC, and Yos in Gardena. Boo! I did get to shop there one last time and the owner hooked me up with some great deals on a sand crab catcher and a Daiwa Sealine reel. My cousin Randy came to L.A. for a visit with his wife. It was nice to see them and catch up. I almost got smashed between two loaded semi trucks on the 405 fwy. I had nowhere to go when traffic stopped short with one truck in front and one behind me and the lane to my left was stopped already. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw the truck behind me was not going to be able to stop in time! I was still doing about 40 when I pulled into the emergency lane and overshot it and ended up getting sideways in the ice plants before I recovered and the saw the trucks hit with enough force that I believe my little truck wouldve been squished like a grape. I then restarted my heart, checked my underwear, and drove back onto the highway. I stopped by my old stomping grounds. The swapmeet that I used to sell at many years ago. I couple of the old vendors that were there when I was are still hanging in there. One of them is a Vietnamese lady that sells cosmetics and perfume. Her son Danny used to help me set up and tear down. He was about 12 back then. He was there helping her out...hes 31 freakin years old now! Man Im gettin old!
