So by our arguments, i guess President Mahama can call all public workers one by one and ask them to go on leave whether they like or not. He can also appoint ministers without parliamentary approval after all the people of Ghana voted for him and he is an Executive President. Hmmm...... NPP. Things use not to be like this Why now? Anyway, the last time I checked the NPPs constitution it is very careful not to concentrate power into the hands of a single individual but in a group. We are the apostles of democracy so we have the Steering Committee which is responsible for the day to day management of the Party. The Steering Committee reports to the National Executive Committee(NEC) for approval of its decisions and the NEC reports to the National Council. The power to appoint lies with NEC not even with the Steering Committee so if Perry or any Officers designation needs to be changed, the National Officers should first discuss it at the level of Steering Committee and go to NEC and make their case for members of NEC to take the decision. Yes we have National Officers, yes National Officers not Executives because it is how the constitution describes them who implement decisions taken by these bodies. Any Party that concentrates power into the hands of individuals would be creating dictators. NPP should not and must not create dictators so National Officers should work according to our constitution and consult more. After 18th October, I hope the new Leader of the Party would bring in some hope to the people of Ghana that we are ready to collect the power the people of Ghana are offering us. We should stop saying that I am boss or i have the authority or that Tamale gave me that authority. NPP and the people of Ghana would not allow President Mahama or any president to do as he pleases because the people of Ghana voted for him/her.Good day folks.
