So completely appreciated this. Ive been the person throwing up Christian cliches, and Ive been the person on the receiving end of them. It is easy to spout trite Christian platitudes designed to make people feel better with bumper-sticker theology. But insipid axioms do little in the face of the actual brokenness of the world. Heres the reality in the Bible from someone who endured suffering most people cant fathom... The Apostle Paul, who said, For we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers and sisters, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead (2 Cor 1:8,9) Wow.
