So did everyone have the race of their lives? Anyone smash their expectations? Being my first and only having a sprint tri under my belt i was thinking under 13 was possible and 12 hours would be a dream day. Hadnt swum since high school and i just wanted to survive the swim, 1:23 on race day (spot on where i wanted/expected to be). 6:01:30 on the bike was a big suprise as i couldnt see myself averaging 30k/h in training (bit gutted i missed the 6 hour mark). After knocking out the first 10k in 51 mins i was waiting to blow up bit time, especially due to my longest brick being about 115k and 8k. The blow up never really happened and i think my 100k race memory came back as i was semi comfortable with my legs feeling like they had been bashed with sledgehammers. Walked through aid stations up until the last few and was greeted by my bub and my new wife (day before lol) and had Mike Reilly call me across the line. 11:39:58. 4:02 for the run (once again a lil gutted i missed the 4hour barrier lol). Could not be happier with first attempt and keen to go sub 11 next year.
