So dinner wit pops... He told me bout growing up in the 60s ... 1st off ... Very inappropriate convo for a public restaurant . 1st part of convo ... We talking Affirmative Action. He totally credits affirmative action for lifting him out of the projects in Watts and placing him squarely in the middle class. He felt as if the Gov didnt force Whites to hire him ( with his Masters) he would have been another statistic. Second he tells a story of Blacks in management positions hating on other blacks and how in a convo wit his best friend Roberto ( Mexican ) they all discussed hiring practices of minorities . The question was... If your boss was White and told you to hire someone... And you had two folks equally qualified ... One was from your culture ... The other was white... Who would you hire ? Roberto said without pause... Hed hire the Mexican guy... Without apology... His other friend ( black ) said he couldnt hire the black guy... Cuz too many blacks scare Whitefolks ... pops then ask me ... Who would I hire ..I said Id hire the Black... Then he ask me why... Meaning how would I justify... I said... Id say... I thought he was a good fit... Anyhow.. This is the convo we having at super packed restaurant. Folks is looking and ear hustling Fosho... But I been dranking... So...
