So, do faculty in other states have to deal with their **state - TopicsExpress

So, do faculty in other states have to deal with their **state legislatures** mandating the content of their syllabi? Example: per House Bill 2504, your course schedule must [provide] a general description of the subject matter of each lecture or discussion.” Uh, yea. Thats what a syllabus would include, law or no law. But then, much worse, there is the very long list of information, rules, warnings, and other legalistic content that must be included that makes the syllabus a huge mess of information that students must find rather vertiginous and confusing. And some new, required, passages shift responsibility from the institution to the instructor, such as the idea that the instructor is supposed to meet privately with students who have specific evacuation needs in case of an emergency (but instructors arent given any assistance with figuring out how to actually help people in an emergency. . .) Swamped by bureaucracy. . . .
