So every day after feeding all of the birds in the aviary I walk to the edge of the forest to feed the left over food to the wild birds, squirrels, chipmunks, turkeys and occasional deer that are not frightened. Today when I went out, there were no small animals in sight. Upon raising my gaze above the ground level I viewed this beautiful young Red-tailed Hawk, who was obviously waiting for someone to come take advantage of the feast. It was so patient and watched me carefully as I approached and was directly beneath it, close enough to touch. Thankfully I had my phone on hand and was able to get a few pictures and a short video of this majestic bird. Whether it was intelligence, an opportunistic moment or a bit of both, this bird knew the best spot for an easy meal! Even though I am surrounded by animals on a daily basis, they never cease to amaze me and be inspiring. - Daniel Kopulos
