So every single one of my horse friends will understand this. Those of us who have purchased horses throughout our lives for ourselves and our clients have learned some very important facts- No matter what size a seller says a horse is, you need to automatically take anywhere from 2-4 inches off (and sometimes more) because sellers always inflate size. A horse will never look as good getting off the trailer as they did in their ad. and Take everything that you are told with a mega grain of salt- and never ever ever buy a horse without seeing it in person first... Now that being said.... I can no longer say that these are facts. Because the horse that I just unloaded about an hour ago from the trailer is absolutely breathtaking. I never in my wildest imagination would have thought that I would get to own a horse like this at my stage of life. He is HUGE and I could just sit and stare at him for hours. He is every single thing I have ever wanted in a dressage horse. I am exhausted and exhilarated and I cannot thank Natasha (who sold him to me) and Coast 2 Coast Horse Transportation enough. They did a great job bringing him here and stayed in touch the entire way (gone are the old days of sitting at the barn all night in hopes that the van will show up). He arrived cool and calm and I will happily share their contact information with anyone needing a horse shipped. I was sure that we would wake up the whole neighborhood unloading him and then leading him across the street (a neighbor has loaned me a paddock for him for a couple of weeks until the field gets fenced) but neither he nor Splash or Gussy made a sound. I had planned to put Daisy the mini in with him to give him company but I think that I will put old man Gussy in instead. Daisy could walk right underneath him and I think that I want to get to know him a bit better before I trust him with our little girl. So I am going to sleep now. To dream about the day when the two of us head down the center line together.....
