So everyone was curious what would happen when the flowers were felted.... and so was I. There is always transformation from pile of loose wool to felt. Frankly, I get a little nervous when I begin throwing water on a piece. So.... the flowers were wet down, gently rubbed with soapy hot, hot water and then rolled several hundred times around a rod until the piece was firmly felted. It shrunk about 3 inches each way. Photos show the before felting (far right), just after water was poured on it and immediately after felting. Colors will still brighten some more as it is only partially dry. The final step is to sharpen edges strategically with a felting needle. That will be tomorrow.
