So excited that my music arrangements are crossing oceans over to Australia via PDF downloads! However, this American (namely me) was confused by the phrase my new Australian friend, Paula Lesse used at the end of her FB post to me: Now to order some busking music from Martha Yasuda to keep the momentum going! So, I asked her what busking meant and she gave me an amazing description that is so inspirational. May this BUSKING please spill over onto American soil, creating as wonderful a musical and heartfelt impact as our fellow Suzuki Australians! Here is what she wrote: Busking is playing music down the street for entertainment and voluntary donation. My 5 Suzuki children have all done this at some stage for purposes of review/motivation/money for instruments and needs and wants. Last year the 9 and 11 y.o saved up for a camping trip to French Polynesia, their first O/S trip (with violin). They finance their own Suzuki music festival attendance, and contribute to charity, such as our bushfires, Kiva, Mission India, etc. A few years ago a homeless man gave them a few coins for playing Christmas Carols, and whilst they found this embarrassing, they also realised that they were blessed that they had the power to touch someones lonely soul with their music, so every Christmas we do Nursing (Old peoples home? for you americans) Home Concerts.
