So far I havent posted anything on Community Language Learning (CLL). CLL was the product of the mind of Theologian and Psychologist: Charles Curran. In its practice, it is quite simple but the theory supporting it is based on psychotherapeutic counselling techniques. Ignoring, for the purpose of this post, the latter, CLL requires that a group of students decide on a topic to discuss and do so recording the conversation for later focus. The teachers role is that of translator, working one to one with each student to ensure that what they record is accurate. Earl Stevick wrote his A Way and Ways in 1980 and in it, he writes about his experiences teaching, learning with or observing a variety of contemporary language teaching methods.
